Here are the legal requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to get married in Cyprus

  • At least 3 day residency
  • 10 year passport, with at least 6 months validity following the return date for the bride and groom
  • Birth Certificate for the bride and groom.
  • Adoption certificates where appropriate.
  • For divorced persons, DECREE ABSOLUTES if the name shown on your decree absolute is different to that on your passport a reference must be made to this in your statutory declaration. Example if you revert back to your maiden name.
  • For widow or widowers, death certificate for former spouses.
  • If aged less than 18 years - a legal letter of consent from parent or guardian stamped and signed by a solicitor.
  • Statutory Declaration for UK passport holders, endorsed by a solicitor (One each for the bride and groom - not a joint one.
  • For Irish Citizens - a Freedom to Marry Certificate from the department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland or the Irish Embassy if living in the UK.
  • For British Citizens living overseas you must get a Statutory Declaration endorsed by a solicitor from the country you are resident, in addition if you are in a Non EU Country you must take the Declaration to the British Embassy to get it verified and stamped.
  • If names have been changed by deed poll - legal proof stamped and signed by a solicitor.
  • For Anglican Ceremonies - at least one baptism certificate, for Catholic ceremonies - both bride and groom need baptism certificates.
  • Two witnesses passport numbers (Must be over 18)
  • The Statutory Declaration must not be applied for more than two months before your wedding date IDEALLY 4 WEEKS BEFORE.
  • For Non British and Non Irish Citizens please contact us by email as the above legal requirements will not apply to you
  • The ceremony and paperwork including the Marriage Certificate will be in English and two witnesses will be required for the ceremony.
  • ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE ORIGINAL, PHOTOCOPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND MUST BE IN ENGLISH.
  • Approximately 21 days before your arrival into Cyprus, we would like you to advise us by email that you have all the following documents:
  • Statutory Declaration
  • Decree Absolute (where applicable, also read note next to this heading)
  • Birth Certificate short or long version
  • A Second Declaration if you have been Adopted or changed name by Deed Pool
  • Application Form (we will request this to be forwarded to us)
